Your Questions About Bulova Watches Marine Star

Betty asks…

Can I dive with my Bulova Marine star watch?

There is a difference between 100m water resistance and 100m divers watch resistance can i dive with it?

answers:

Most watches are water resistance if rated at 100M (330 feet).
This rating may not guarantee that you can operate all the functions on the watch at depth.

Most diving watches are rated water proof if rated at 200M (660 feet).
This usually means you can operate (push all the buttons) and the watch will not leak.

There is no difference in the rating.
Both ratings will allow you to shower, bathe, swim or dive while wearing the watch.
I’m sure you will not exceed the depth limitation.
I have not heard of anyone trying to test the rating of the watch at 100M (the watch would survive but you won’t).

Lizzie asks…

How much is a bulova 90502p marine star watch worth?

answers:

New, they’ll set you back between $225 to $500.

Used, you might cut that down 10-20%.

At a pawn shop, you might get $50 if you pawned yours. Those shops will never give you anything near what they’ll resell it for.

Hope this helps. Wish you the best.

Jenny asks…

How do i get the minute hand Bulova Men’s Marine Star Watch #98H25 to move?

I set the time and date but then the minute hand stopped. The watch keeps the time but I would like the minute hand to move like it was before i reset the time

answers:

Try pushing the set knob all the way back into the watch.
If that fails, bring it to a watch shop.

answers:

The watch pictured does not have a tachymeter. The bezel dial is used as a count down timer. You would rotate the dial to the desired number of minutes past the current time, and when the minute hand gets to the 0 (12) position, time is up.

A tachymeter calculates speed over a unit of distance. The link posted above in Mark G’s answer does a nice job of describing how it works.

As a semi-interesting aside, diver’s watches w/ rotating bezels contain a ratchet as a safety feature, allowing rotation in one direction only. If the bezel is bumped while diving, it shortens the time, thereby preventing the diver from believing he has more time (air supply) left than he really does.
